Institutional & Community Violence Intervention
Empowering Change Through Healing, Justice & Accountability
Institutional & Community Violence Intervention initiative is a comprehensive approach to interrupting cycles of violence both behind bars and in the streets.
We recognize that true transformation begins with truth, healing, and opportunity. This program includes our critical work on Rikers Island, as well as community-based Restorative
Justice and Victim Impact programs.
Rikers Island Violence Intervention
Our presence inside Rikers Island is rooted in direct engagement with incarcerated individuals. We deliver trauma-informed support, mentorship, and conflict resolution training to reduce violence, build self-awareness, and encourage personal accountability.
Through workshops, one-on-one coaching, and peer leadership development, we work to:
Dismantle the culture of violence
Promote emotional intelligence and impulse control
Foster reentry preparation and life-skills development
We believe change is possible—even behind the walls.
Restorative Justice
Our Restorative Justice work brings together those who have caused harm, those who have been harmed, and affected community members to engage in healing dialogue.
Rather than punishment, we focus on responsibility, empathy, and repair.
We facilitate:
Peace circles and healing circles
Community reconciliation sessions Alternative-to-incarceration pathways for youth and adults
This approach shifts the focus from "What law was broken?" to "Who was harmed and how can we make it right?"
Victim Impact Programming
Our Victim Impact curriculum gives participants the opportunity to understand the real consequences of their actions on others, families, and communities.
It promotes accountability and empathy—helping individuals move from remorse to meaningful change.
Participants learn to:
Acknowledge harm caused
Reflect on the ripple effects of violence
Develop personal growth goals rooted in making amends
Our Mission: Interrupting Violence, Restoring Humanity
Through these interventions, We Aims to reduce recidivism, build safer communities, and provide spaces where everyone—victims, offenders, and community members—can begin to heal.
We don’t just aim to stop violence.
We aim to transform lives.
